Dr. Ross Berkowitz Cancer Research

In 2002, BSNCF gave the Dana Farber Cancer Institute a donation to be applied to the  Dr. Ross Berkowitz’s research in a gynecological cancer.

The particular study focuses on the early diagnosis of the disease through blood tests and other screening methods before the advanced disease develops and thereby increasing the treatment opportunity.

Dr. Berkowitz is the William H. Baker Professor of Gynecology at Harvard Medical School and is the Director of Gynecologic Oncology and Gynecology and Co-Director of the New England Trophoblastic Disease Center at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

During the past twenty years, Dr. Berkowitz’s research focus has been in the areas of gestational trophoblastic disease and ovarian neoplasia. Investigations in these areas have resulted in more than 400 publications of original reports and reviews on these subjects. Concerning gestational trophoblastic disease, his research interests have concerned identifying risk factors for development of these tumors as well as advancing understanding of the natural history of these diseases including subsequent reproductive experience.
BSNCF was pleased to make a contribution to finding a cure.
