As part of Team BSNCF every mile that I swim, bike or run will be for all of those whose lives have been so cruelly affected by this terrible disease.

Athletics has always been a huge part of my life, and I love being able to combine it with BSNCF’s mission to help families fighting against cancer. This cause means so much to me because I’ve seen first hand how cancer can completely change the lives of people that you love.

About three years ago, my Uncle Neil was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. It rocked our whole family’s world. He was the youngest of 5 siblings. He was loud, hilarious and the life of the party. Having to see such a strong person be completely taken over by disease was heartbreaking. Even in the thick of it all, he was still cracking jokes, talking smack (He was a die-hard Philly fan), and managing to find reasons to smile. He fought hard the whole way surrounded by the love and support of his family.

He passed away in May 2018 at the young age of 47. Even in the darkest hours, sometimes a smile really can be the best medicine.
